Location, location, location! This is the appeal of the Holiday Inn Hilton Head. Just steps away from the surf on South Forest Beach, it has been rightfully named “The Beach House”.
In fact, it is one of the few hotels in this area that is directly on the beach. It is also across from Coligny Plaza, a collection of trendy restaurants & shops.
Don’t let the Holiday Inn brand name deceive you. Reasonably priced for oceanfront accommodations, the hotel has gone through a recent remodel and has been getting great reviews.
With only 202 rooms and five stories high, the Holiday Inn Hilton Head is one of the smaller hotels on the island. Having stayed here myself, I would best describe the hotel as “a nice choice” since it lacks the amenities of some larger resort hotels in the area.
However, for the price and location, it’s a hotel worth considering.
Once in the hotel’s lobby, Hilton Head’s coastal influence begins to take hold. Decorated with warm earth tone colors, contemporary furniture and natural woods, it provides a glimpse in what lies ahead.
Guest rooms are informal and relaxing, boasting cotemporary furnishings with colors of cool blues and browns. Room choices include king size beds or double beds, both with pillow top mattresses.
Rooms that combined a king size bed and kids bunk beds, called the family fun suite, are perfect for families wanting to stay in one room

As I said, the hotel’s location is just incredible. Once you step outside the hotel, the views of the Atlantic ocean are unbelievable. Guests are literally just steps away from the pristine white sands of Forest beach.
Venture a little further out, a beautiful and inviting beachside pool awaits the hotel’s guests, perfect for spending the day lounging and sunning.
If you get hungry, no need to go far. Lunch is available at the poolside Beach Shack, serving up a lighter fare of drinks, burgers, fries, fruits and salads.
Holiday Inn Hilton Head has a relatively new lounge & restaurant called Marker 59. The menu is traditional coastal cuisine, influence by South Carolina’s low country.
The restaurants décor has been inspired by the island’s love for the ocean and the biking way of life. With views of the ocean in the background, furnishings are contemporary in color schemes of cool blues and brown wood tones. Bicycles are suspended in open niches.
Serving guest’s favorite drinks is the Tiki Hut. An outdoor bar with a genuine thatch room and open feeling concept. With live music during the season, patrons can sit back and relax on the large deck that overlooks the beach volleyball courts
